New ROHM Support Site for Designers: Keeping it Running
Santa Clara, California and Kyoto, Japan, June 08, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – ROHM Semiconductor today launched a new website that unites 1,000 products under the ComfySIL ™ brand to support functional safety in automotive systems. Improved research of products and various documents contributes to greater work efficiency for designers of circuits and electronic systems in the automotive field.
In recent years, following the acceleration of technical innovation represented by ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) in the automotive sector, it has become necessary to consider functional safety to help prevent accidents. At the same time, in response to the growing importance of ensuring vehicle safety by supporting device-level safety requirements for on-board electrical systems, a second edition of ISO 26262, the international standard for functional safety , was published in December 2018 which adds a chapter on semiconductors.
ROHM responded quickly to these needs and in March 2018 successfully obtained ISO 26262 development process certification from third-party certification body TÜV Rheinland. Since then, ROHM has gradually expanded its portfolio to include the documents required for functional safety design, and currently offers a range of over 1000 compatible part numbers.
This new website brings together functional safety compliant products under the brand name ComfySIL which will be used on the web and relevant documents to significantly improve product search. The ComfySIL brand targets not only vehicles, but also functional safety for other markets, and in the future, ROHM will expand its product line that supports functional safety of industrial equipment.

ROHM Automotive Product Initiatives

Functional safety categories and documentation
ROHM has identified three categories of functional safety products:
- Compliant with FS process: A product that has been developed on the basis of an ISO 26262 design process conforming to the ASIL level described in the data sheet.
- FS mechanism implemented: A product that has security mechanisms in place to meet the ASIL level requirements described in the datasheet.
- FS Support: A product which has been developed for automotive use and is capable of supporting safety analysis with respect to functional safety.
Currently, only the automotive sector is supported.

About the brand ComfySIL
ROHM has launched the ComfySIL brand for customers involved in functional safety design to use products that support SIL (Safety Integrity Level) in a “comfortable” (comfortable) manner, and for a greater safety, security and convenience of social systems to which ROHM can contribute through its products.
