An Australian mom who shared snaps from her huge shopping spree at Big W’s annual Toy Mania sale has sparked a huge division on social media.
The Gold Coast woman grabbed three carts full of items for her 3-year-old daughter, posting photos of her $ 1,500 haul to a Facebook group.
“Three carts later and my $ 1,500 online order, I’m having a happy baby girl,” she captioned the footage.
In the post, the self-proclaimed “Christmas Crazy Mom” explained that she wanted to share images of her booty to inspire other moms to do the same.
“I’m so excited to see everyone’s hiding places,” she wrote.
However, other moms said her purchases were too big and criticized her for spoiling her daughter.
“It’s way too much… kids have to learn to appreciate their toys and giving them that much won’t teach her that,” one mother wrote.
“No judgment because I was like you, but if I could go back I would have spent less money on trash toys and on vacations, giving my kids quality time and making memories together,” another mom added.
The woman was among thousands of Big W shoppers who took advantage of the retailer’s sale to stock up on toys and plan Christmas presents in advance.
But some customers continued that the $ 1,500 tag was a bit excessive.
“You will never catch me spending $ 1,500 on my daughter when the toys are a wonder in five minutes and are thrown aside after a week. commented.
Another agreed, saying some parents can’t afford to spend that much on toys, let alone a child.
“How to Raise a Child Who Will Never Appreciate Small Handmade or Delicate Gifts 101 or Value for Money,” one person said.
However, not everyone agreed, with many defending the mother while calling those who complained “whiners” and “jealous”.
“I have two daughters and absolutely spoil them for birthdays and Christmas. If you assume that spoiling your child makes them a child, then it’s up to you,” one mother commented.
“If your kid behaves this way, then before you slam another parent, maybe look at yourself… You whining ladies, you’re so green and it’s so ugly,” she continued.
Another woman told those offended by the mother’s message to just “keep on scrolling.”
“Lucky little girl. If you don’t have anything nice to say, keep going. You are all acting like jealous children,” the woman wrote.
“If anyone is interested, I just filled my cart at Dan Murphy’s and it cost me $ 750. I’ll get a lot more satisfaction than they’ll get from these toys. #Daydrunk,” a another mother joked.
