Scammers create fake online retailer websites and impersonate famous brands. They attract customers by showing designer clothes at very low prices.

These scammers use the latest technology to create a fake retailer website to make it look like a real online retail store.

SOFIA, BULGARIA, June 13, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — The digital world has successfully expanded to the maximum, reaching almost every part of the world. Be it a big or a small business or an enterprise, everyone wants to be on the web to reach customers and sell their products online. Legit online shopping websites have been a huge help for buyers and sellers to buy and sell products online. But an individual can even find scammers on these platforms; as we know scammers are all over the internet. They create fake shopping sites and scam people.

A couple got scammed by a clever website advertising cheap $160 barbecues. The scammer asked them to pay by credit card with a 2.99% fee or by direct transfer with a 5% discount. Later, the victim received an email that their order was canceled and refunded due to logistics emails, but they never received the refund.

According to Cyber-Forensics.Net, an online scam recovery service provider says, “These scammers use the latest technology to create a fake retailer website to make it look like a real online retail store. Their websites offer low prices for luxury items like designer clothes, shoes, jewelry, or electronics. But when someone orders, they may receive a poor quality product or receive nothing at all.

What is a fake shopping site?

A scammer creates a fake shopping website to deceive people and take their money. The scammer creates an authentic-looking website of a famous brand and offers these branded products at low prices. They convince the customer to make an online payment for the product; once this is done, the customer never receives the ordered product.

Sometimes the fraudster does not imitate any other company or website, but creates a new website where the products are sold at very low prices. Similar to the previous scam, the scammer convinces the customer to make an online payment for the product, but the customer never receives the product.

According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), they said consumers reported a loss of nearly $392 million due to online shopping fraud, up from $246 million in 2020.

How to recognize a fake shopping site?

It is very important to spot a bogus shopping website before ordering anything from it because if an individual is not careful, such websites can easily cause someone to lose their money. We will see some simple steps to help you spot a fake shopping site.

◉ Customer Reviews: This is one of the most important ways to know if the website and its products are good or bad. If the reviews are bad and include previous customer warnings, it’s a fake website. On some websites, if a person only sees new reviews that are not related to the product, it can also mean that it is fake. One should go through as many reviews to make sure they don’t get ripped off.

◉ Pay before delivery: If a website asks an individual to pay by bank transfer using a credit or debit card before the product is delivered, it is better to skip it.

◉ Verify Domain Name: One needs to verify the name of the website, known as the URL. A legitimate brand will have a domain name based on its name. If the URL consists of random numbers or weird alphabets, that’s usually a red flag.

◉ A small padlock icon at the top left of the URL: Always look for a small padlock icon next to the website URL. Legit websites have this feature. If a website has this icon, it means the website is encrypted.

◉ Poor Website Design: A good brand or business knows the value of a professionally designed website. If the website looks bad and contains less information, customers don’t take the time to get out. People who come across such websites should check for misspellings, broken links, pixelated images, and grammatical errors.

How to avoid landing on a fake shopping site?

Timothy Benson, chief analyst at Cyber-Forensics.Net, says: “Fraudsters will try to hide innocent customers by showing them offers that are too good to be true. An individual needs to take a step back for a moment and find out why someone is offering such an offer at such a low price. Jumping straight into the offer can be costly for customers.

◉ Do not click on online advertisements that look suspicious. It is a common way to attract people.
◉ Be careful if a website says it has products in stock that are sold out almost everywhere else.
◉ Don’t be tempted if the price is too good to be true. It’s probably possible.

How can a fund recovery service help you?

Suppose an individual loses his money on a fake shopping site. In this case, they can hire a fund recovery company like Cyber-Forensics.Net who will help the victim recover the lost funds from the fraudster.

Some scammers even pretend to be fund recovery companies and run fund recovery scams. They contact the victim who lost their money online and promise to help them get the money back, but ask for a fee to continue the process. But once the victim transfers the money, these scammers disappear, scamming the victim twice. Individuals should always look for a legitimate fund recovery company and avoid a fund recovery scam.
