“Each meeting was essentially virtual,” Julien said. Some team members came into the space on designated days, one at a time, while others tracked progress via video meetings.
The new space already meets the growing demand for the PDP program and helps other departments around DCE. It will be widely used for the Extension School’s evening classes, as well as for Harvard Summer School classes.
One Brattle’s new media studio is “designed to host high-profile events for classes that don’t have a regular in-person option,” according to the studio’s website. “This new space will expand DCE’s ability to host interactive online sessions from conception to delivery, and is fully equipped to produce webinars, Zoom meetings, debates, conferences, interview panels and demonstrations. .” Many attendees at the opening marveled at the high-definition television screens, multitude of cameras, and interactive whiteboards. The studio is operated by the DCE teaching and learning team and will play an important role in the production of HELIX Classroom courses.
Coleman reported that during a recent space visit, a Harvard Corporation board member remarked, “If we can do this, we can do anything.”
