Applications open for 2021 National Minority Enterprise
Washington, DC, May 25, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) is currently accepting nominations for its 2021 National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Awards. These prestigious accolades are presented during MBDA’s National Minority Business Development Week, September 12-18, 2021, and celebrate the exceptional achievements of minority entrepreneurs, as well as individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional commitment as as advocates for the minority business community.
The MBDA National MED Week Awards are the highest level of national recognition that a US minority-owned company can receive by the US Department of Commerce. The awards are presented in three main groups, each with several award categories:
- Minority companies of the year | 9 industry-specific awards
- Business Development Champions | 3 awards
- Individual recognition | 2 awards
MBDA encourages applications from chambers of commerce, trade and commerce associations, contractors, federal, state and local government agencies, and business owners. Self-nominations are also welcome. Award categories, qualification criteria, and entry submission instructions are available on the MBDA website, http://www.mbda.gov. Nominations for the MBDA National MED Week 2021 awards must be received no later than June 15, 2021.
The MED Week 2021 award winners are expected to be announced in September, with winners receiving their awards at the National MED Week Conference.
This year, President Joe Biden will issue a proclamation declaring September 12-18, 2021 as National Minority Business Week, which will coincide with MBDA’s National MED Week 2021. This declaration will further enhance the visibility of minority businesses and amplify the importance of the economic and social contributions of minority entrepreneurs in our nation’s communities.
The MED Week conference, presented again this year in a virtual format, revolves around the theme of “the reimaging opportunity” with programming highlighting the endless possibilities available to the business community. minority.
