Apple halts Hermes AirTag online sales, likely due to quality issues
The Apple Online Store has temporarily stopped selling Hermes AirTags in the United States, in what could be a precautionary measure over possible quality issues.
Visitors to the online version of the Apple Store cannot purchase any of the AirTag Hermes products on Monday, with all three items listed as “currently unavailable.” This includes the Keychain $ 349, the Bag charm at $ 299, and the Luggage tag $ 449 models.
The website does not mention why the premium model is not available at the moment, but the phenomenon is not limited to the United States. Appleinsider Checks revealed that the keychain and keychain versions are not available in the UK and France, but the bag charm continues to be sold in these markets.
The lack of availability applies to all color variations of the affected models, which may be more a sign of a product-related issue than just a shortage of stock.
Apple does not say why the items are not available, but it could be due to quality issues. According to 9to5Mac, a key ring for a reader came undone to the metal post. Calls to AppleCare resulted in a replacement, but arriving at the store a day later, the replacement was not available.
Other AirTag accessories sold directly by Apple remain available for purchase.
