Andhra government to launch online cinema ticket sales soon
Amaravati: The government of Andhra Pradesh will soon launch online sales of movie tickets in the state, state Cinematography Minister Perni Venkatramaiah said on Monday.
A delegation of Tollywood film producers, distributors and theater owners met with the minister here to discuss various issues outside of the state government’s recent decision to sell tickets on its online platform.
Speaking to the media after meeting the delegation, the minister said the Tollywood delegation had extended its support for the online ticketing policy.
“The government wants to make sure that cinematic entertainment is available to people, at affordable prices where tickets will be offered online at the price set by the government,” he explained.
He said the online ticketing system will ensure transparency by limiting the black market for movie theater tickets, and will also curb tax evasion. control over tax evasion.
Monday’s meeting follows a recent statement from top Telugu film star Chiranjeevi that the chief ministers of the two Telugu states should take the lead in solving Tollywood’s problems.
Filmmakers, distributors and movie theater owners including Dil Raju, DNV Prasad, Adi Seshagiri Rao and DVV Danayya attended the meeting and discussed issues facing the film industry due to Covid.
Stating that producers, distributors and exhibitors have submitted various questions to the government at today’s meeting, Perni Venkatramaiah said a decision will be made after considering their requests.
Pursuant to a GO issued by the State Home Office on August 31, all bookings for movie shows in Andhra Pradesh will be channeled only through a portal operated by the National Film Development Company, Television and theater.
The move shook the Telugu film industry.
