17th edition of Malaysia International Halal Showcase to be held online
âIn an effort to broaden perspectives on the halal industry, [the 17th] MIHAS will focus on showcasing 12 key pillars representing growing halal markets around the world, âsaid Siti Azlina, Trade Commissioner at MATRADE Manila. Azlina continued, âThese include long established industries such as food and beverage, education, pharmaceuticals, services and enablers, and franchising. While the more contemporary industries include modest fashion, Islamic finance, cosmetics and personal care, media and entertainment, Muslim-friendly travel, e-commerce, and food technology. Commenting on the global trend of consumers opting for brands that practice ethical, humane and responsible business practices, Azlina said, âPromoting responsible and sustainable businesses globally is very much in line with the value system Halal. Bearing this in mind, the 17th MIHAS showcase will place particular emphasis on helping local and international actors turn to innovation and sustainable initiatives to foster steady growth in the halal economy. Organized by MATRADE under the patronage of Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry, MIHAS is the place where local and international halal actors can gain critical global exposure for their products or services, by leveraging Malaysia’s strengths by as a global halal hub. Under the theme ‘Empowering Halal, Tomorrow, Together’, this year’s MIHAS aims to position Malaysian companies as halal champions of the world by embracing Industry Revolution 4.0 and serving as the ultimate springboard for halal brands and innovators powered by the digital. He awarded more than 750 booths. Exhibitors also have the option of securing virtual booths accessible to visitors online from September 9 to December. Each virtual stand will be equipped with information points to present key products and services. Since its creation in 2004, MIHAS has welcomed more than 8,200 exhibitors from 44 countries and attracted more than 400,000 visitors from 88 countries. The event has so far generated over RM17.2 billion in leads.
